‘Very big in Sheboygan’: US Cellular 5G live in parts of Wisconsin

US Cellular – the fifth-largest mobile operator in the US by subscribers – has made good on its pledge to launch 5G mobile services in the first quarter of 2020, after a flurry of local press reports confirmed that the network is now live in selected locations. According to the Sheboygan Press, the fifth-generation network went live on Friday 6 March and utilises the 600MHz band.

US Cellular’s flagship 5G smartphone is the Samsung S20, which is also said to be compatible with the cellco’s existing 4G networks. Advance publicity for the Samsung device said that 5G access was expected to go live in ‘hundreds of Iowa and Wisconsin communities’.
