Nepal Telecom upgrades 4G speeds

9 Mar 2020

Nepal Telecom (NT), the country’s largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has significantly increased data transmission speeds on its 4G LTE network following the installation of a new PCRF system, reports Nepalitelecom.com. According to the website’s tests, NT’s LTE service now supports average download speeds of around 40Mbps in real world conditions, twice the rate subscribers previously enjoyed.

NT embarked on an ambitious plan in October 2019 to expand its 4G network, which had been limited to Kathmandu and Pokhara since its launch in January 2017, and announced in February that the service is now available in all 77 districts via more than 2,000 base transceiver stations (BTS).
