Telia Lietuva plans to switch off 3G network in 2022

5 Mar 2020

Telia Lietuva plans to refarm most of its 2100MHz frequencies from its 3G network to increase the speed and capacity of its LTE mobile services by the end of the year. Verslo Zinios quotes the operator’s CTO Andrius Semeskevicius as saying that the move will pave the way for the shutdown of its 3G network by the end of 2022. Telia states that 3G-only devices will still be able to connect to the 2G network, adding that around 97% of all mobile data traffic is currently carried over its LTE network.
