AT&T Communications has extended its low band 5G network – which went live in ten markets on 13 December 2019 – to 22 new locations, taking its overall 5G footprint to 80 markets. New locations covered include Beaverhead County (Montana); Mono County (California) and Springfield (Ohio). The network utilises former 3G spectrum in the 850MHz band.
AT&T’s original millimetre wave (mmWave) 5G footprint remains unchanged, covering parts of 35 cities. This network – branded ‘5G+’ – was launched in December 2018 using 39GHz frequencies.
