Full-service provider Magenta Telekom, which was formed last year from the merger of wireless operator T-Mobile Austria and cableco UPC Austria, is upgrading its fixed broadband networks in Graz, Klagenfurt, Villach and Wiener Neustadt to enable speeds of up to 1Gbps. Around 115,000 households in Graz and the surrounding area are now able to access gigabit broadband rates, alongside almost 50,000 in the Klagenfurt and Villach areas, and a further 25,000 in Wiener Neustadt.

Between 2018 and 2021 Magenta plans to invest around EUR1 billion (USD1.1 billion) in its fixed and mobile infrastructure across the entire country.
