Digicel books 4% EBITDA growth

27 Feb 2020

Irish-owned, Jamaica-based telecoms group Digicel Group has reportedly booked a 4% year-on-year increase in EBITDA to USD251 million for the three-month period to 31 December 2019, Irish newspaper Independent.ie writes, citing a report from Bloomberg News. According to the report, underlying service revenue saw a 3% increase, aided by a 10% y-o-y improvement in mobile data revenue but partly offset by currency movements. The group’s debt burden remained high at around USD6.8 billion: the company’s earnings are in the various local currencies of its 33 markets whilst its debt is in US dollars and, as such, depreciation of those currencies has hurt its debt profile.
