Romania-based Digi Communications has reported consolidated group revenue of EUR1.186 billion (USD1.286 billion) in its preliminary unaudited results for the financial year ending 31 December 2019, a rise of 14.2% on the previous year. Adjusted EBITDA (including the impact of IFRS 16) rose 37.5% to EUR446 million in the period. The company highlighted total RGUs increased 8% year-on-year to close 2019 at 16.1 million, the highest number in the company’s history. This was driven by a 14.5% rise in mobile communication services RGUs to 5.7 million (5.0 million in 2018), 9.8% growth in fixed internet subscribers to 3.6 million (3.3 million in 2018), and a 5.4% increase in pay-TV service RGUs to 5.1 million (2018: 4.8 million).
Romania continues to be the group’s core market, contributing 64% of consolidated group revenues and 11.4 million RGUs, followed by Hungary (2.5 million RGUs), Spain (2.0 million) and Italy (240,000). The Romanian operation recorded steady growth in fixed internet RGUs (up 9.8% to 2.8 million) and pay-TV customers (up 6.9% to 4.1 million), while its mobile telephone subscriber base ended the year at 3.44 million, compared with 3.4 million at end-2018. Consumer mobile ARPU rose 9.1% to EUR4.8 at end-December 2019, up from EUR4.4 twelve months earlier.
