The EU has delayed a decision on the proposed merger of the respective tower businesses of Telecom Italia (TIM) and Vodafone Italy in order to evaluate the remedies submitted by the telcos to overcome competition concerns and consult with rival operators. A decision on the merger, which will see Vodafone’s infrastructure merged into INWIT, TIM’s 60%-owned tower unit, has been postponed from 21 February to at least 6 March.
