Globe Telecom launches free, high speed internet in Ilocos Norte

13 Feb 2020

Ayala-led Globe Telecom has partnered the provincial government of Ilocos Norte to deploy a free high speed internet service – GoWiFi – in key areas of the province. President and CEO Ernest Cu said the move forms part of wider plans to lead the Philippines’ digital transformation drive. ‘This partnership with Ilocos Norte is of utmost importance for us in reaching and connecting more areas outside urban Luzon to reliable internet connectivity,’ he said, adding that Globe hopes the improved connectivity in the region will ‘stimulate the development of the province as one of the economic powerhouses in the entire Northern Luzon’.

The telco’s GoWiFi service is now available in key areas in Ilocos Norte such as the Capitol Building, Laoag City Hall, Batac City Hall, San Nicolas IT Park and Aurora Park in Laoag, with plans to connect all municipalities in Ilocos Norte with free internet in the next few years.
