Xplornet announces fibre expansion in Nova Scotia

10 Feb 2020

Canada’s leading rural fixed-wireless broadband operator Xplornet Communications has announced that over 24,000 rural homes and businesses in Nova Scotia will soon have access to much faster internet speeds with unlimited data via ‘5G-ready’ wireless broadband infrastructure supported by its fibre network expansion. The project, starting later this year, will connect premises in the Municipalities of Cumberland and Colchester which currently have limited access to high speed broadband and unlimited data packages, through joint investment from Xplornet, Develop Nova Scotia and the municipal authorities. 16,000 premises in the Nova Scotia Internet Funding Trust will be covered with 100Mbps services alongside at least 8,000 premises outside the scope of the programme. Future speeds could be upgraded to 1Gbps.
