VodafoneZiggo expands 1Gbps broadband to The Hague

5 Feb 2020

VodafoneZiggo announced on its website that on 11 February 2020 it will launch 1Gbps DOCSIS 3.1-based cable broadband services in The Hague region, doubling consumers’ existing available internet speeds. Initially, 382,000 households in The Hague (metropolitan), Delft, Leidschendam, Voorburg, Wassenaar and Nootdorp will have access to gigabit downloads (with 50Mbps peak upload). The Hague is the third city reached by VodafoneZiggo’s commercial DOCSIS 3.1 rollout, following Utrecht (the first to launch, in October 2019) and Hilversum (November 2019). Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Eindhoven, Groningen, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Tilburg and Wageningen will follow later this year, and by the start of 2021 VodafoneZiggo says around half of the 7.2 million households passed by its cable network will be able to access gigabit connections.

Jeroen Hoencamp, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, added: ‘At the end of 2020 we will make the Giga package available for 1.7 million of our approximately four million customers.’ Giga broadband packages also include TV channel packages via an interactive media box, additional Movies & Series/Ziggo Sport packages, Ziggo GO mobile/OTT app and a fixed telephone connection.
