4 Feb 2020

British pure fibre provider CityFibre is aiming to extend the fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network that it is currently rolling out in the city of Bournemouth to the neighbouring towns of Christchurch and Poole ‘as soon as possible’. According to ISPreview, CityFibre had previously earmarked investment of GBP38 million (USD50 million) for the deployment of its fibre infrastructure across Bournemouth, but it is understood that the operator is now prepared to increase funding in order to incorporate Christchurch and Poole into the rollout plan. Speaking regarding the matter, CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch was cited as saying: ‘We’re investing GBP38 million into just Bournemouth alone and we’re prepared to up that investment into Poole and Christchurch and to make it somewhere in the neighbourhood of, I think, about GBP75 million-GBP80 million.’

Meanwhile, the report notes that CityFibre is claiming to now have 18,582 homes in Bournemouth covered by its fibre-based infrastructure, with 200 installations said to have been carried out in the last month alone.
