Telia says like-for-like sales down 3.5% in FY 2019

Sweden-based telecoms group Telia Company has reported net sales of SEK85.97 billion (USD8.93 billion) for full year 2019, up 2.9% in reported currency terms but down 3.5% on a like-for-like basis including adjustments for exchange rates, acquisitions and disposals. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 16.9% to SEK31.02 billion, while net profit for the year increased from SEK3.12 billion in FY 2018 to SEK7.26 billion last year.

For the fourth quarter of 2019, Telia said net sales were up 2.8% on a reported basis at SEK22.84 billion, though in like-for-like terms this represented a drop of 2.3%. Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter climbed 18.5% to SEK7.91 billion, and total net income improved from a net loss of SEK1.57 billion in Q4 2018 to a profit of SEK1.37 billion in the most recent quarter.

The group claimed 24.24 million customers across its operations in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia at the end of 2019, up from 23.98 million a year before. Of this total, there were 16.74 million mobile subscriptions, down from 16.80 million a year earlier, as well as 821,000 PSTN customers (down from 1.06 million), 682,000 VoIP telephony accounts (down from 796,000), 2.93 million fixed broadband customers (up from 2.92 million) and 3.07 million TV subscriptions (up from 2.40 million at end-2018).
