Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the country’s biggest telecoms player by subscribers with more than 1.6 million users on its books, has announced it is ready to launch a broadband fixed wireless access (FWA) network based on 5G technology. Unveiling the ‘milestone’, SLT says it will offer the new service to homes and businesses across the island and pointed to the success of its pre-launch trials which delivered data speeds of up to 1.7Gbps using 3.5GHz spectrum allocated by the government.
