Romania’s National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) has revealed that 958,821 phone numbers were ported in the country in 2019, of which 93% (895,083) were mobile numbers, and only 63,738 fixed telephone numbers. RCS&RDS accepted the most mobile porting requests (337,784), followed by Orange (170,528), Telekom Romania Communications (152,274), Vodafone (137,385), and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications (97,086). Pre-paid customers accounted for 47% of the mobile numbers ported. Fixed telephone numbers were ported between the main providers as follows: RCS&RDS 34,527, Vodafone 10,488, Orange 9,954, UPC Romania 5,085 and GTS Telecom 1,025. Over 6.3 million numbers have now been transferred between networks since the portability service was introduced in October 2008. Of these, 5.5 million (86%) have been mobile numbers and over 800,000 landline numbers.
