Cellcos want lower 5G prices in Poland

Two Polish cellcos are calling on the country’s telecoms regulator to lower the price of C-band spectrum in the planned 5G auction. A report from Rzeczpospolita says Orange Polska and P4 (Play) have contacted the Office of Electronic Communications (Urzad Komunikacji Elektronicznej, UKE) to request that the reserve price for licences be lowered from the proposed level of PLN450 million (USD118 million) to around PLN248 million. The two operators calculated the lower reserve price based on similar 5G sales in countries such as Finland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland and the UK. The watchdog aims to sell four 80MHz blocks of frequencies in the 3.4GHz-3.8GHz band by July this year.
