Mozambique’s TMCEL looks at USD200m investment this year

8 Jan 2020

The head of Mozambique’s state asset management body Instituto de Gestao das Participacoes do Estado (IGEPE) says government-owned telco Mocambique Telecom (TMCEL) needs USD200 million of funding to carry out a number of projects during 2020. A report from local newspaper Noticias says IGEPE president Ana Coanai did not give further details of the projects to be completed this year. Funding will come from bank loans. TMCEL was created in January 2019 following the merger of Telecomunicacoes de Mocambique (TDM) and its wholly owned wireless subsidiary mCel.
