Uzbek mobile operator Uzmobile, part of state-backed Uzbektelecom, announced on its website that its total cellular subscriber base reached five million just before the end of the decade, on 30 December 2019. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database shows that Uzmobile has exceeded its own ambitious growth targets: at the end of March 2019 it announced reaching 2.9 million active users on its 2G GSM, 3G UMTS and 4G LTE networks (a notable rise from 1.0 million announced in November 2017) alongside 160,000 CDMA users, and it set goals of 4.6 million GSM/UMTS/LTE and 220,000 CDMA users by the start of 2020.
