A1 Belarus, working in partnership with Belarus’ common infrastructure provider Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud), has announced the completion of stage one of their joint project to develop 4G LTE services across Belarus – delivering advanced connectivity to all major cities countrywide. The latest action comprised the activation of more than 2,000 1800MHz band base transceiver stations (BTS) in all six regional centres – Minsk, Grodno, Brest, Gomel, Vitebsk and Mogilev – and including many major cities, such as Bobruisk, Zhlobin, Baranovichi, Vileyka, Dzerzhinsk, Kalinkovichi, Lida, Molodechno, Mozyr, Nesvizh, Novogrudok, Orsha, Ostrovets, Pinsk, Polotsk, Rechitsa, Soligorsk, Slonim and others. As a result of the latest initiative the cellco says that 4G coverage now extends to close to 200 towns/cities, covering 76% of the Belarusian population.
