Vodafone announces 5G test network locations

17 Dec 2019

Vodafone Czech Republic disclosed on its website that it will implement 5G mobile test networks in the cities of Usti nad Labem, Jesenik and Karlovy Vary – three out of the five winning cities of the ‘5G for 5 Cities’ competition announced in October by the Ministries of Regional Development and Industry & Trade. Vodafone notes that earlier, in July this year, it signed a ‘Memorandum of Cooperation for the Gigabit Future’ with the municipality of Karlovy Vary, a spa town in west Bohemia where it has carried out several 5G demos since July 2018 using 3.5GHz test spectrum. Vodafone added that Usti nad Labem, Jesenik and Karlovy Vary will gain state support in testing and using 5G technologies in partnership with the cellco, as well as in the development of smart cities technologies.
