TDC, Ericsson embark on 5G trial in Helsingor

Danish operator TDC’s infrastructure arm TDC NET (previously TDC NetCo) and Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson have launched a trial 5G project in Helsingor municipality, after being granted temporary access to the 3.5GHz band by the Danish Energy Agency (DEA). New 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G equipment has been installed on 40 masts across the municipality, with TDC planning to test speeds of up to 1.1Gbps over the infrastructure. TDC’s 5G rollout commenced in Zealand in October, with all 3,854 masts in TDC’s mobile network scheduled to be upgraded to 5G going forward.
