Telefonica set for 5G rollout in five German cities in Q1 2020

Telefonica Deutschland is aiming to increase its revenue by at least 5% by the end of 2022, as it expands LTE nationwide and embarks on the deployment of 5G. The company plans on reaching 30 cities with its 5G network by end-2022, covering a total of 16 million people. Expansion will begin in Germany’s five largest cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt in the first quarter of next year. Telefonica will work with its existing equipment vendor partners Nokia and Huawei on the rollout of the new infrastructure. With regards to 4G, expansion will be carried out in rural areas with a view to covering 99% of households with LTE by the end of 2020.
