US-based Hughes Network Systems and UAE-based Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) have announced that their joint venture (JV) to provide satellite broadband services in Brazil is now live. Operating under the established Hughes do Brasil name, the new venture delivers services via the Hughes 65 West and Hughes 63 West satellites, as well as using Yahsat’s Al Yah 3 Ka-band satellite. The company says it will deploy additional JUPITER System ground network technology to deliver high efficiency services across the country, optimising performance and throughput. As per a deal struck in May this year, Hughes do Brasil is now 80% owned by Hughes and 20% by Yahsat.
