5 Dec 2019

Madagascar has signed a technical assistance agreement with China as part of its plan to upgrade the country’s telecoms networks, reports Madagascar Tribune. The project will involve the creation of new infrastructure, including fibre-optic links and data centres, with the aim of modernising public services and reducing the cost of communications within the public sector. It could also benefit the proposed creation of a new ‘digital city’. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Christian Ntsay noted the agreement will help attract investment and aid the country’s social and economic development.
