Vodafone New Zealand has announced it has switched on four new 4G LTE cell sites in Waihoaka, Colac Bay, Whakapatu and Springhills in the Southland region, as part of the second phase of the government’s Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI2) designed to improve mobile and broadband coverage in remote areas of the country. The operator, which has now activated a total of 14 sites in the area as part of the RBI2 scheme, notes customers can access wireless broadband and VoLTE services.
