US-based global cloud networking provider GTT Communications has completed its EUR50 million (USD56 million) purchase of KPN International, which was agreed with KPN of the Netherlands in July and has now received all necessary regulatory approvals.
KPN International operates a global IP network serving Dutch and overseas enterprise and carrier clients with connectivity and value-added services. The deal transferred more than 400 enterprise and carrier clients to GTT, which will be the preferred international network supplier for an additional 400 or so clients retained by KPN.
GTT says the purchase of KPN International adds depth to the existing GTT Tier 1 global IP network in Europe across 21 countries, including long-haul fibre routes and metro rings in Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam and Paris, and complements GTT’s portfolio with similar best-in-class transport and infrastructure, internet, and wide area networking services. Rick Calder, GTT president and CEO, said: ‘The great client base contributed by this acquisition, combined with a talented group of employees, strengthens GTT’s presence in Europe. We are pleased to welcome this blue-chip roster of clients from KPN International who can now access GTT’s expansive global network and comprehensive service portfolio, as we deliver on our purpose of connecting people across organisations, around the world and to every application in the cloud.’
