Digi Communications has announced that its Romanian subsidiary RCS&RDS has reached an agreement to operate networks owned by rival operators Digital Cable Systems (operating under the AKTA brand) and ATTP Telecommunications. Under the agreement, RCS&RDS will pay up to EUR77 million (USD84.8 million) to operate the networks and provide internet access, cable television, fixed and mobile telephony services to around 540,000 residential clients for an initial three-year period, with an option to extend for a further three years. Under the agreement, RCS&RDS could also acquire ATTP’s infrastructure and clients if certain conditions are met, notably approval from the competition authorities.
