Russian national fixed line operator Rostelecom has acquired two affiliated telcos in Novosibirsk, Siberia – Megacom-IT and Garant-Sibir – in a deal of undisclosed value which should see the group take a leading position in the city’s B2B broadband access market, reports ComNews. Via its subsidiary Bashinformsvyaz, Rostelecom bought Megacom-IT (serving corporate and wholesale customers) from German company Forvoll, alongside Garant-Sibr (serving retail subscribers) from its owner Yuri Popov, gaining assets including a city-wide fibre-optic network and a number of large corporate clients.
