Czechia broadband and mobile operator Nordic Telecom, which since May 2016 has been owned by private equity firm Nordic Investors, has announced that its in-deployment ‘5G Internet’ network was available in 112 areas of the Republic by the end of October 2019, up from 103 locations the previous month. As a result of the latest expansion the telco says it now has coverage of 30% of Czech households, while working with network partners it can now reach more than 90% of homes and businesses in Czechia with a range of products such as Nordic TV and Fixed Internet DSL.
Nordic Telecom has set out a goal to cover approximately 400 locations throughout the Czech Republic with its 5G Internet service by Q4 2019 and by the end of 2020 aims to provide coverage to 1.3 million households. Last month, it introduced a new range of low-cost Mobile Internet (fixed-wireless) tariff plans which it claimed were ‘unbeatable’, offering a 4GB LTE plan for CZK195 (USD8.4) representing a CZK100 discount, and 8GB LTE for CZK345 (a CZK50 discount). As with all its fixed and fixed-wireless internet services, Nordic Telecom’s Mobile Internet plans come with no contract lock-in and can be cancelled at any time at no charge.
