Russian cellco MegaFon’s revenue increased by 1.4% year-on-year to RUB90.0 billion (USD1.4 billion) in the third quarter of 2019, as it reported ‘steady growth in its key performance indicators while maintaining its loyal subscriber base’. Quarterly operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) increased by 15.8% y-o-y to RUB39.0 billion, giving an OIBDA margin of 43.3% while net profit was RUB3.2 billion in the three months ended 30 September 2019. CAPEX decreased by 37.2% y-o-y to RUB11.6 billion in the quarter.
MegaFon’s number of active mobile connections in Russia increased by 0.1% y-o-y to 75.3 million at end-September 2019 as its data service users climbed by 6.2% to 34.2 million. A press release claimed that ‘operating results show that MegaFon is pursuing the right strategy towards its digital transformation goal’.
