Romania-based Digi Communications has reported revenue (excluding intersegment revenue and other income) of EUR299.4 million (USD329.6 million) for the three-month period ended 30 September 2019, up 10.9% year-on-year from EUR269.9 million in Q3 2018, while total revenue for the first nine months of the year was EUR874.6 million, a rise of 15.6% on the same period of 2018. Operating profit in the third quarter rose to EUR52.3 million, compared with EUR25.2 million in the year-ago period, while net profit stood at EUR20.8 million (up from EUR8.0 million in 3Q18).
Romania continues to be the group’s core market, generating almost 64% of revenues, followed by Hungary (18%), Spain (17%) and Italy (2%). The Romanian operation recorded an 8.9% year-on-year rise in cable television subscriptions (3.523 million RGUs at 30 September 2019) and 9.7% growth in its residential fixed broadband subscriptions (2.528 million RGUs). The company’s mobile telecoms customer base in Romania increased 0.5% to 3.396 million, while ARPU rose to EUR4.9 a month, compared with EUR4.4 in the same period of 2018. Residential fixed line telephony RGUs decreased by around 8.9% to 979,000.
