Italian business services provider TWT has signed an agreement to utilise the infrastructure of wholesale network operator Open Fiber. The deal covers so-called ‘white areas’ which are currently unserved or underserved by fixed broadband connections. Open Fiber is deploying open-access networks in these regions across Italy under a series of government-subsidised contracts. The rollout will cover approximately 9.6 million households in over 7,000 municipalities. Open Fiber is also deploying fibre-based networks in 271 Italian cities, allowing third-party service providers to offer connectivity at up to 1Gbps.
