MASMOVIL offloads 940,000 FTTH units to Macquarie for EUR218.5m

7 Nov 2019

Spanish alternative telecoms operator Grupo MASMOVIL has announced that it has completed the sale of around 940,000 fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) ‘building units’ to Macquarie Assets Holdings for a total consideration of EUR218.5 million (USD242 million), as agreed in May this year. The carve-out of the assets will take effect on 1 December; the transaction has no impact on MASMOVIL’s user-base and requires no action at the client’s domicile.

At the end of the third quarter of 2019 MASMOVIL claimed that 22 million ‘marketable homes’ were within its fibre footprint, of which around 13 million corresponded to its own infrastructure. The remainder are accessible via wholesale agreements with other operators.
