Polish cellcos sign agreement for joint 700MHz rollout

Three Polish telcos have signed an agreement with two state-controlled entities to collaborate on the rollout of shared infrastructure for 5G mobile networks. A report from Reuters says that Orange Polska, T-Mobile Poland and Polkomtel – a unit of Cyfrowy Polsat – are to work with state-run telco Exatel and infrastructure investment fund PFR to develop a single nationwide 700MHz band 5G network. A fourth cellco – P4 (trading as Play) – is awaiting further corporate approvals before signing, the report added.

‘The aim of the joint project is to ensure nationwide availability of 5G services in selected bands, technology security and low service prices thanks to synergies of common infrastructure,’ PFR CEO Pawel Borys wrote on Twitter.
