Finland’s Elisa Corporation has published its financial results for the quarter ended 30 September 2019, reporting a 2.4% year-on-year increase in revenue which it attributed in part to the acquisition of Polystar – a provider of analytics, assurance and monitoring software solutions for mobile operators – and a larger mobile subscriber base.
In the quarter under review Elisa generated a total turnover of EUR465 million (USD516 million), up from EUR454 million in the corresponding period of 2018, of which revenues from mobile services accounted for the largest proportion, totalling EUR281.4 million, up from EUR277.5 million. EBITDA for 3Q19 stood at EUR179 million, representing annualised growth of 5.8%, while profit before tax was EUR113 million, up marginally from EUR110 million a year earlier.
In operational terms, in its domestic territory Elisa reported a mobile subscriber base of 4.042 million at end-September 2019, up from 4.008 million a year earlier, while in Estonia wireless customer numbers declined slightly, from 670,000 to 668,000. Meanwhile, in terms of fixed broadband accesses, figures were broadly unchanged year-on-year, with the company reporting 601,000 in Finland (3Q18: 597,000) and 97,000 (94,000) in Estonia.
