Slovakia’s Towercom halts TD-LTE service

16 Oct 2019

The Slovak fixed-wireless operator Towercom has stopped selling TD-LTE products, Zive.sk reports. The firm won eight regional licences in the 3.5GHz-3.7GHz band in 2017 and launched TD-LTE networks supporting connectivity for home users at speeds of up to 20Mbps. The report says Towercom has not commented on what it intends to do with its frequencies, which are also suitable for future 5G wireless services. Another regional fixed-wireless licensee, Slovanet, recently agreed a deal to sell its 3.5GHz spectrum to fixed and mobile operator Orange Slovensko.
