Chilean telecoms Grupo GTD has restructured its organisation around two of its brands, based on the geographical region of their operations, Diario Financiero reports. In the north of the country, the group has unified its GTD Teleductos, GTD Manquehue and GTD Intesis units under the ‘GTD’ banner, whilst its services in the south will be offered as Telefonica del Sur (Telsur). Grupo GTD Corporate Marketing Manager Felipe Saitua was quoted as saying that the move would make it easier for new customers to sign up with the company, adding: ‘During recent years we have had great growth as a company, and this change allows us to simplify and make our communication relevant to the client’.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, during the company’s last round of restructuring it had narrowed operations into the above-named units based on services provided and target market: GTD Teleductos had handled corporate and data centre services; GTD Intesis provided a range of IT and consultation services; and retail services were offered by GTD Manquehue and Telsur in the north and south, respectively. The move had allowed the company to shelve at least five former brands, including GTD Telesat, GTD Internet and GTD Larga Distancia.
