Telekom gets greenlight for Vizija takeover

30 Sep 2019

State-owned full-service provider Telekom Srbija – which operates under the MTS brand previously used solely for its mobile business – has had its planned acquisition of regional cable broadband and TV provider KDS Vizija approved by the Competition Protection Commission (Komisija za Zastitu Konkurencije, KZK), eKapija writes. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed and the watchdog raised no concerns regarding the takeover of the Novi Pazar-based cableco, which also serves the municipalities of Sjenica and Tutin. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Telekom has been driving consolidation in the nation’s cable broadband market, forming a new company, Supernova, in March this year from six ISPs that it had acquired over the preceding six months, including Kopernikus and Radijus Vektor. Since July 2019, meanwhile, Telekom has also acquired Telemark Systems, Exe Net and Meteor Sat TV.
