Ooredoo 5G showcase achieves 1.75Gbps speeds

Qatari-owned cellco Ooredoo Myanmar has completed tests of 5G technology with Chinese vendor partner ZTE, showcasing a range of use-cases for the platform at an event in Yangon. The trials utilised spectrum in the 2.6GHz and 3.5GHz range and achieved downlink speeds of up to 1.75Gbps, whilst the demonstration of the technology’s capabilities included a virtual reality (VR) experience and an intelligent autonomous flying drone, equipped with HD cameras and intended for remote inspection or automatic delivery. Ooredoo Myanmar CEO Rajeev Seth commented on the development, saying: ‘This demonstration highlights the huge strides Ooredoo Myanmar is making in supporting Myanmar’s digital transformation. Our real-life 5G experience showcases the way that new technology can transform people’s digital lives and brings with the possibility of innovative digital products and services, powered by Ooredoo Myanmar’s world-class technologies.’
