Verizon, Calix achieve 34Gbps using NG-PON2 technology

Verizon Communications and Calix have achieved downlink transmission speeds of 34Gbps over the telco’s Next-Generation Passive Optical Network 2 (NG-PON2) infrastructure. The advanced download speed was achieved at the Verizon Innovation Center in Waltham, Massachusetts.

TeleGeography notes that Verizon and Calix previously trialled NG-PON2 services in Tampa, Florida in October 2018, notching download speeds of 8Gbps.
