ViewQwest Malaysia launches commercial service

13 Sep 2019

Following on from the announcement in May 2019 that it would offer fixed broadband services in Malaysia over incumbent Telekom Malaysia’s High Speed Broadband (HSBB) network, ViewQwest has now introduced its first commercial offering. According to the online news portal Malaysian Reserve, ViewQwest is initially offering just a single fixed broadband tariff – ‘Freedom 100’ – which offers downlink speeds of up to 100Mbps at prices averaging between MYR118 and MYR123 (USD28.3-USD29.5) per month, dependent on the contract length taken. Meanwhile, the report notes that in terms of geographic availability, ViewQwest’s new fixed broadband plans will be offered in the Klang Valley and Johor Baru from launch, with expansion eventually across Telekom Malaysia’s entire HSBB coverage area. Speed advances are also planned, with ViewQwest aiming to ultimately offer plans with downlink speeds of 300Mbps, 500Mbps and 800Mbps.

Commenting on the initial launch, Singapore-based ViewQwest Group’s CEO Vignesa Moorthy was cited as saying: ‘In partnering the national HSBB network, we want to reach more Malaysians who have been demanding better broadband experiences … With ViewQwest’s HSBB services, consumers can get the very best in connectivity speeds, performance reliability and user experience – and at competitive pricing. That is our brand promise to all Malaysians.’
