CNT concession tender to be held in 2020

Plans to find a private sector partner to run state-owned operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) are advancing and a tender for a 20-year concession to operate the company will be held in 2020, reports local daily La Hora citing CEO Martha Moncayo. The executive said a technical consultation phase with interested parties was completed last week and that a contract would be awarded within the next six months. Under the proposed concession terms, a private investor would pay the government USD4 billion for a 20-year licence to operate CNT, while the state would retain 100% ownership and levy 25% income tax.
