Romania-based Digi Communications has reported a 15.9% rise in revenues (excluding intersegment revenue and other income) to EUR294.1 million (USD328.2 million) in the three month period ended 30 June 2019, up from EUR253.7 million in Q2 2018, while net profit rose to EUR20.8 million from a EUR1.9 million loss a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was 33% higher at EUR107.8 million and CAPEX increased to EUR85.9 million, up from EUR61.5 million.
Romania continues to be the group’s core market, generating 63% of revenues, followed by Hungary (19%), Spain (16%) and Italy (2%). The Romanian operation recorded a 9.5% year-on-year rise in cable television subscriptions (3.4 million RGUs at 30 June 2019) and 11.6% growth in broadband internet subscriptions (2.6 million RGUs), while its mobile telecoms customer base stood at around 3.4 million at the end of the quarter (up 0.5%). The company reported growth in RGUs across the four markets of 1.0 million, to 15.5 million.
