LLA boss monitoring M&A opportunities

13 Aug 2019

Regional telecoms group Liberty Latin America (LLA), which has a presence across the Caribbean and Latin America, has indicated that it is still in the market for new acquisitions, after its 2018 takeovers of Cabletica in Costa Rica and Curacao-based United Telecommunication Services (UTS). TeleGeography notes that those two deals totalled in excess of USD400 million.

A transcript of the conference call to discuss the group’s 2Q19 earnings quotes LLA President and CEO Balan Nair as saying: ‘There are quite a number of assets that, I think, would be very attractive to us. But we are quite patient. And as you can see from 2018, there were a lot of deals that were rumoured that we were engaged in and didn’t come into play, and it’s mostly because we know how to do the math. And we’ll be very disciplined on the M&A front.’
