Azercell investing in 4G network expansion

Azercell, Azerbaijan’s largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has invested AZN63 million (USD37 million) in its network expansion over last six months, reports The Azeri Times citing company CEO Vakhid Mursaliyev. The operator installed an additional 1,007 LTE base transceiver stations (BTS) in 57 regions of the country, including Baku and Absheron, during the period. The company now has over 7,000 BTS, including 1,667 LTE-enabled sites providing 4G coverage to 61% of the country’s area and 86% of its population.
