Ayala-led Globe Telecom has activated its fifth-generation fixed-wireless broadband service in Barangay Buting, Pasig City. In a statement the telco said that its 5G service, available to home subscribers and dubbed ‘Globe At Home Air Fiber 5G’ became commercially available in the city over the weekend.

Globe Senior Vice-President and Head of Broadband Business, Martha Sazon, said that the telco is looking to transform Filipino households by connecting them using 5G technology, adding that by September this year the fixed-wireless broadband service will be rolled out to Greenpark, Cainta, Rizal; Woodland Hills in Carmona, Cavite; and locations in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan. Further, Sazon confirmed that Globe At Home Air Fiber 5G would be available in 24 more areas on a progressive basis to fully ensure the stability of the service. The 5G service boasts download connection speeds of up to 100Mbps for PHP2,899 (USD50.9) per month. It also offers a 20Mbps line (PHP1,899) or 50Mbps connection (PHP2,499), and is currently offering a promo whereby each plan comes with a data allocation of 2TB.
