US cable giant Comcast has reported consolidated revenue of USD26.9 billion for the three months to end-June 2019, an increase of 23.6% from USD21.7 billion a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA for the period was USD8.7 billion compared to USD7.4 billion in Q2 2018, but net income attributable to Comcast dipped by 2.8% year-on-year to USD3.1 billion. Free cash flow was also down from Q2 2018, slipping by 1.3% to USD4.2 billion.
The group’s Cable Communications unit booked revenue of USD14.5 billion in Q2 2019 – up 3.9% from USD13.9 billion in 2Q18 – including USD4.7 billion attributed to high speed internet services (+9.4%), and USD5.6 billion to video services (-0.6%). The division counted 30.9 million customer relationships at end-June 2019, having added 152,000 net new users in the quarter. The number of broadband customers grew to 27.8 million from 26.5 million a year earlier. Video and voice customers totalled 21.6 million and 11.3 million, down from 22.1 million and 11.5 million, respectively, while Comcast’s MVNO user base more than doubled year-on-year from 781,000 to 1.59 million.
