Sweden’s Telia Company, which has operations in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, has reported revenues of SEK21.27 billion (USD2.27 billion) for the second quarter of 2019. Sales rose 2.2% year-on-year as reported, but were down 4.2% on a like-for-like basis, taking into account exchange rates, acquisitions and disposals. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 16.7% (8.1% like-for-like) to SEK7.52 billion, but excluding the positive impact of IFRS 16 measures, EBITDA would have dropped 2%. Net profit fell 26.4% to SEK1.65 billion.
President and CEO Johan Dennelind says the firm is expecting a stronger second half of 2019 due to ongoing revenue initiatives and cost reductions.
In operational terms, the group had 16.76 million mobile subscriptions at the end of June 2019, including 2.28 million M2M connections; the total was unchanged from a year earlier. Fixed broadband users numbered 2.93 million at mid-2019, up from 2.49 million twelve months before.
