Ministry invites 5G proposals

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Information Technologies & Communications (MITC) has published a request for operators, service providers and telecom equipment suppliers to submit their proposals for 5G network construction. In an announcement on its website, the MITC specified required elements of the 5G proposals, including:

- 5G testing scheme;

- recommended 5G devices (and target end-users), including suppliers of technology and solutions;

- available resources, experience and funding to support the ‘5G demonstration project’ in Uzbekistan.

The MITC added that the following additional sectors are targeted by the upcoming national 5G programme:

- agriculture;

- smart [road] traffic;

- smart city;

- safe city;

- education;

- healthcare;

- industry;

- projects for people with disabilities.
