Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), has kicked off 5G network rollout in Germany. By the end of this year, around 300 5G antennas will be transmitting in six cities, with the first being Berlin and Bonn, followed by Darmstadt, Hamburg, Leipzig and Munich. Within 18 months, the 20 largest cities in Germany will all be connected with 5G. The first devices and tariff plans for 5G are available now and can be used with Telekom’s 4G LTE network, followed by 5G in the future; 5G connections will be activated automatically whenever they become available.
